Intranatal period
It begins with labor pains and ends with the birth of a newborn and umbilical cord transplantation. This period lasts on average from 2-4 hours to 18 hours.

Neonatal period
The umbilical cord or neonatal period begins with the insertion of the umbilical cord, which lasts 28 days, of which the first 7 days or 168 hours are considered to be early neonatal and 7 to 28 days late neonatal.

Newborn care
Clinic “Pineo” provides the maximum necessary environment and conditions obligatory for the successful implementation of newborn care procedures. We, neonatologists and nurses, operatively ensure the passage of the airways after the birth of a newborn, prevent heat loss, and protect all newborns with the so-called 10 steps of the “heat chain”, within which we make skin-to-skin contact. A healthy newborn is placed on the mother’s body, which is an ideal method of preventing heat loss. At this time, the newborn wears a hat and socks; the baby and the mother cover the blanket in case if it’s necessary.

Breastfeeding
Early initiation of breastfeeding promotes the formation of effective sucking reflexes, maintaining the normal body temperature of the newborn, relieving the stress of mother and newborn, colonizing the microbial flora of the mother on the baby’s skin, stimulating lactation, oxytocin production, close psycho-emotional bond or connection between mother and baby and getting rid of clots in the first one hour and protecting the newborn from infections.
Prevention and care
Prophylaxis of conjunctivitis within 1 hour after delivery with 0.5% erythromycin ointment for the prevention of hemorrhagic disease in the newborn within 1-2 hours after birth.

We mark the newborn during the care procedures, at the time of birth the name of the mother and father, history number, time of birth, sex and anthropometric data are written on the bracelet. Then, the newborn is dressed in clothes to make him/her feel more comfortable and cozier.
We take a full examination of the newborn within 2 hours after birth. Each newborn is monitored daily for vital functions, which is also attended by the mother, and we also have a daily toilet.

On the 3rd-4th day of life we carry out screening for phenylketonuria, hypothyroidism, mucoviscidosis, hyperphenylalanimenia. The mother and the newborn are in the same ward in the maternity ward according to the mother’s wishes and condition.
Except for the period required for various hygienic or medical procedures, parents also receive appropriate advice on neonatal care when discharged from the clinic. They are also aware of all the dangerous symptoms that should be referred to a neonatologist immediately upon detection
