Doctor of Medicine, Professor of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Department of Neurology and Neurosurgeon, Head of the Neurological Service at the Clinic “Pineo Medical Ecosystem”. After graduating with honors from the Medical Faculty of the Tbilisi State Medical Institute, Alexander Tsiskaridze received an internship at the Sarajishvili Institute of Neurology (1988-1989). In the late 1990s, he received a scholarship from the European Society of Neurologists and underwent fluorescence at the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) Neurology Clinic. He later worked at the same clinic as a fellow of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
Tsiskaridze started his professional career in the 80s of the last century as a junior researcher at the Sarajishvili Institute of Neurology. He later became a Senior Research Fellow, Academic Secretary of the Institute, and then Scientific Director. At the same time, he worked at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, where he was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine for many years, and then the Vice-Rector.
Prof. Tsiskaridze is the author and co-author of 53 scientific articles. He authored a monograph Treatment-related stroke including iatrogenic and in-hospital strokes in 2016 by the University Of Cambridge (UK). He has received numerous international and local academic degrees and awards, including the Academic Degrees (PhD) and Doctor of Medicine (DSc); Young Researcher Award from the Council of Europe Stroke, as well as the Georgian Association of Neurologists and Neurosurgeons P. Sarajishvili Medal.
In 2005 he was awarded the Bruce Schoenberg International Prize in Neuroepidemiology by the American Academy of Neurology, and in 2010 – the Georgian National Prize and Silver Medal for the cycle of scientific papers. Alexander Tsiskaridze was also awarded the Ivane Javakhishvili Medal of the Tbilisi State University and the Order of Honor of the State of Georgia.
Alexander Tsiskaridze is a full member of the European Academy (Academia Europaea), the founder of the European Stroke Organization and a member of the Board of Directors, a member of the European Neurological Academy Stroke Panel, a member of the Curatio Board of Directors, a member of the Tbilisi State University of Georgia Member of the Governing Board, Member of the Editorial Board of European Neurology (Karger), European Stroke Journal (Sage) Neurological Sciences (Springer). He is a reviewer of such international scientific publications as British Medical Journal, Circulation, Stroke, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery & Psychiatry, Journal of Neurological Sciences, Frontiers in Neurology, Neurological Sciences, Journal of Neuroinflammation, Cerebrovascular Diseases, European Neurology, Case Reports in Neurology, Internal and Emergency Medicine, Neuroepidemiology, Cerebrovasclar Diseases.
Under the leadership of Prof. Alexander Tsiskaridze, the neurological department of the Clinic Pineo Medical Ecosystem provides outpatient and inpatient services for a full range of neurological disease patients, including stroke management using state-of-the-art treatment technologies such as intravenous thrombolysis and endodontics. International multicenter clinical trials of new methods of treatment of neurological diseases are actively carried out in the departments.
